"If beings knew, as I know, the result of giving and sharing, they would not eat without having given, nor would they allow the stain of selfishness to take hold of them. Even if it were their last morsel, their last bite, they would not enjoy it without sharing, if there were someone with whom to share it."

- The Buddha, Itivuttaka 26

Monk on Piṇḍapāta

Weekly

Piṇḍapāta is the ancient practice of Buddhist monks walking through the streets with their alms bowls, receiving food offered freely by lay practitioners. For monks like Bhante Rāhula, this is not merely a way of sustenance: it is a profound spiritual exchange.

The monks offer the opportunity to make merit through the act of generosity, while the donors express their gratitude for the teachings and the spiritual presence the monks bring to the community. In this exchange, both sides cultivate qualities such as generosity, humility, and interdependence.

If you wish to take part in this practice, you can join us for the weekly Piṇḍapāta or make your donation via PayPal.
